Building Collaboration in the Flipped Classroom - Results

Through the survey given to the students in the flipped classrooms, the results indicate:

  • there were more positive feelings about working together in a flipped classroom compared to a normal one, because of increased learning time and understanding material through collaboration
  • however, motivation remained unaffected despite collaboration, because of the feeling that there was little to no control in who did what in the group
  • students could learn more through working together in projects, communicating more, and overall felt that there was a richer experience in developing communication and analytical skills
  • however, when it comes to "learning", students felt mixed, with some preferring the instructor to teach instead of learning from their peers (who may not teach as well) along with the potential to waste time in class
