Collectivist Cultures Social Preferences in Allocation Decisions
Participants from collectivist cultures had a lower preference for age (r = 0.772, p = 0.005) and prioritized those with the same nationality (r = - 0.736, p = 0.010) and people with no criminal history (r = - 0.878, p < 0.001) when compared to participants from individualistic cultures. This result is also found in previous research where people from collectivist cultures tend to act in the favor of the group rather than the individual.

A multinational corporation is designing a new employee bonus program. Two options are proposed:
- Program A: Bonuses are awarded to the top 5% of individual performers based on their personal sales figures and achievements. This system is designed to foster competition and reward individual excellence.
- Program B: Bonuses are distributed equally among all members of a team if the team collectively meets or exceeds its goals. This system is designed to encourage collaboration and group success.
In a country where the culture strongly emphasizes group harmony and views people as highly interdependent, which program is most likely to be successful and why?
