Cost Structure of a Small Bakery with Capacity Constraints (Figure 8.8)

Figure 8.8 illustrates the cost structure for a small bakery, with the quantity of loaves (Q) from 0 to 200 on the horizontal axis and the price/marginal cost (P/MC) in euros on the vertical axis. The diagram shows that within its normal operational capacity, the bakery has a constant marginal cost of €1.50 for up to 120 loaves. To produce beyond this limit (up to an additional 60 loaves), the bakery must operate overnight, which increases the marginal cost for each additional loaf to €2.60 due to higher expenses like overtime wages.
