This is the first multinational, multicenter study on pediatric cases of COVID-19 and provides detailed information about morbidity and hospital care for individuals. The study demonstrates that while COVID-19 generally presents with mild symptoms among children, severe COVID-19 can occur among them, although fatality from the disease is rare (CFR 0.69). Since the study population consisted of individuals with severe COVID-19, the true CFR among children in Europe is likely to be even lower than that found in this study. This study also highlights uncertainties regarding treatment options and their effectiveness.
