CPI Inflation Rates in Senegal and France (1999–2022) [Figure 7.14]

This line chart compares the Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rates for Senegal and France from 1999 to 2022. While the two rates generally move together, Senegal's inflation is significantly more volatile. Despite this volatility, Senegal's average inflation rate since 1999 has been just under 2%, which is strikingly similar to and even closer to the ECB's target than France's average of 1.6%. Both countries experience a dramatic surge in inflation after 2021, with Senegal's rate climbing to nearly 10%.
