Creation of a Bargaining Gap from an Upward WS Curve Shift

If the wage-setting (WS) curve shifts upward while employment is held constant at its initial level, a positive bargaining gap emerges. This gap reflects the new discrepancy between the higher wage demanded by workers on the new WS curve and the existing price-setting real wage.
