Criticism of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs

Maslow's theory has been criticized for its subjective nature and its limited ability to explain certain real-world behaviors. A primary critique is that the strict hierarchical progression does not always hold true, as individuals may prioritize higher-level motives over basic needs. For example, people sometimes endanger themselves for a political cause or to help others, which contradicts the idea that lower-level needs must always be satisfied first.
