Case Study

Cross-Cultural Bargaining Behavior

Researchers conduct a bargaining experiment in two different societies. In the experiment, a 'Proposer' is given a sum of money equivalent to a day's wage and must offer a portion to a 'Responder'. If the Responder accepts, they both keep the money as proposed. If the Responder rejects, neither gets anything. The results are summarized below. Based on these results, analyze the likely differences in social preferences or norms between the two groups that could explain their distinct behaviors.
