Development of CREST
The development of Cognitive Remediation and Emotion Skills Training intervention is based on the cognitive interpersonal model. This model proposed that cognitive, socio-emotional, and interpersonal elements acted together to both cause and maintain eating disorders. The training has been modified to address the added emotional processes after studies conducted showed that areas of emotional difficulty were prevalent in people diagnosed with anorexia nervosa. Additionally, after clinician and patient input, the aspects of emotion processing that were percived to need intervention the most, in terms of difficulty and necessity.
