Digitally native activism is activism that is organized and coordinated fully online. Most fully online movements are short-lived either because attention dies down or the attention garnered created a want/need for a physical response like a protest/rally.

Traditional activism vs. Digital activism

There are three groups that individuals and organizations can be separated into based on their actions/activities

- Digital transitional activities

Hierarchy of digital activism

Digital activism is when a social movement capitalizes on technology to share its message. The technology aspect allows individuals from all over to way in and supports the movement which can add pressure on the policy makers. Digital activism is also a way to gain finical support for the movement.

The activism tends to be part of a larger social movement that is trying to create change to "better" the world through the change of opinion and/or laws surrounding controversial topics.
