Researchers believe that the Sleeping Giants Movement (SG) is one of the only online movements that has successfully made a real-life change. SG targeted companies whose ads were on Breitbart and other far-right websites. SG also commented on policies of the Trump administration.

Digitally native activism is activism that is organized and coordinated fully online. Most fully online movements are short-lived either because attention dies down or the attention garnered created a want/need for a physical response like a protest/rally.

Digital activism is when a social movement capitalizes on technology to share its message. The technology aspect allows individuals from all over to way in and supports the movement which can add pressure on the policy makers. Digital activism is also a way to gain finical support for the movement.
