Directional Movement of Bacteria
The directional movement of a bacterium is determined by the configuration of its flagella. Bacteria navigate their environment by alternating between two primary states: running (moving forward via counterclockwise flagellar rotation) and tumbling (reorienting via clockwise flagellar rotation).
