Dual Economic Consequences of the Atlantic Slave Trade

The Atlantic slave trade produced starkly different economic outcomes for the regions involved. It played a critical role in fueling the British Industrial Revolution by supplying necessary raw materials. Conversely, according to research by economist Nathan Nunn, this same trade is identified as a significant cause of long-term, persistent poverty in Africa.
