Reversal of Fortunes in British and Indian Textile Industries

Roughly 150 years after Indian textiles first dominated the British market, the direction of trade completely reversed. Mechanized British factories began supplying more than half of the textiles consumed in India, causing the permanent downfall of the subcontinent's previously preeminent textile manufacturing sector.
