Environmental Tipping Point

An environmental tipping point is a critical threshold in an ecosystem. According to environmental scientists, if this point is passed, it can trigger a self-perpetuating process that leads to the abrupt and often irreversible destruction of an environmental resource. This concept explains how systems like the Arctic climate can suddenly shift to a new, degraded state after a sufficiently large disturbance.
