Epidemic Typhus

Epidemic typhus is a severe and highly infectious disease caused by the bacterium Rickettsia prowazekii and spread via body lice. It commonly occurs during wars and mass human migrations, infecting endothelial cells to cause blood vessel lining inflammation, high fever, abdominal pain, and potential delirium.
