Epidemiological description and data: Estimating the asymptomatic proportion of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases on board the Diamond Princess cruise ship, Yokohama, Japan, 2020
By February 21, 2020, 634 people tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 among a total of 3,063 tests. PCR testing was performed, prioritizing symptomatic and high-risk individuals. The following data were collected: PCR results, presence/absence of symptoms, reporting date, number of symptomatic/asymptomatic individuals, demographics (Figure). The timeline for the proportion of asymptomatic individuals ranged from 16.1% to 50.5% (Table).
