Equivalent Fractions Property

If aa, bb, and cc are numbers where b0b \neq 0 and c0c \neq 0, then multiplying both the numerator and the denominator of a fraction by the same nonzero number produces an equivalent fraction: ab=acbc\frac{a}{b} = \frac{a \cdot c}{b \cdot c}. This property also works in reverse, meaning that common factors can be divided out without changing the fraction's value: acbc=ab\frac{a \cdot c}{b \cdot c} = \frac{a}{b}.
