Short Answer

Evaluating Strategic Communication

In the final round of a game show, two contestants must secretly choose to 'Split' or 'Steal' a cash prize. If both split, they share it. If one steals while the other splits, the stealer takes the whole prize. If both steal, they both get nothing. Before their choice, they can communicate.

Contestant A says: 'I promise I will choose Split. Let's both be fair and walk away with something.' Contestant B says: 'I am 100% choosing Steal. The only way you get anything is if you choose Split and I decide to share with you after the show.'

From a strategic standpoint, explain why Contestant B's statement, despite its aggressive tone, can be seen as a more powerful attempt to influence the other player's choice compared to Contestant A's simple promise.
