Determining Bala's Best Response if Anil Chooses Cassava

This example demonstrates how Bala determines her best response when she predicts Anil will grow cassava. She compares her payoffs under this condition. If Bala chooses to grow rice while Anil grows cassava, the outcome is (6, 6), so her payoff is 6. If she also chooses cassava, the outcome is (5, 2), giving her a payoff of 2. Since 6 is a higher payoff than 2, Bala's best response is to grow rice.
