Family-based Production vs. Household Production Process
These two concepts are distinct in scale and scope. 'Family-based production' describes a complete, albeit often theoretical, economic system where self-sufficient households form the basis of the entire economy, with minimal trade. In contrast, the 'Household Production Process' refers to the non-market productive activities (like childcare, cooking, cleaning) that occur within a household. This process is a feature of virtually all economic systems, including modern capitalist economies where households produce goods and services for their own consumption alongside participating in the market.
