Generator Project Scope Exclusions

An electrical contractor should spell out any work that falls outside the electrical license or outside the quoted scope. Typical exclusions include gas piping or fuel-line work, buying the generator itself unless it is listed as a separate item, building a concrete pad or mounting base, and handling utility notices or net-metering forms. Tasks tied to the fuel source, such as propane tank placement or a connection box for a portable unit, should be assigned to the owner or another licensed trade when appropriate. Writing these exclusions clearly helps prevent billing disputes and reduces the risk of licensing problems.
