Graphing y=1y = -1 by Plotting Points

To graph the equation y=1y = -1, recognize that it features only one variable, indicating the yy-value is a constant 1-1 no matter what the xx-value is. To proceed, build a table of values where every yy-coordinate is 1-1, and pick arbitrary values for the xx-coordinates (such as 00, 33, and 3-3), producing ordered pairs like (0,1)(0, -1), (3,1)(3, -1), and (3,1)(-3, -1). Plot these ordered pairs on the coordinate plane and draw a line connecting them. Consistent with equations of this form, the resulting graph is a horizontal line intersecting the yy-axis at 1-1.
