Graphing y=4y = 4 by Plotting Points

To graph the horizontal line equation y=4y = 4, note that the equation lacks the variable xx and asserts that the yy-value is a constant 44. Because yy does not depend on xx, any value can be chosen for the xx-coordinates when constructing a table of values using the Point-Plotting Method. Fill in 44 for all the yy-coordinates and select convenient numbers, such as 00, 22, and 44, for the xx-coordinates. This creates the ordered pairs (0,4)(0, 4), (2,4)(2, 4), and (4,4)(4, 4). Plotting these points on a coordinate plane and connecting them yields a horizontal line that passes through the yy-axis at (0,4)(0, 4).
