Hiring 40 Tutors at a €650 Wage and the Subsequent Motivation Problem

If the language school sets its wage at €650, it can hire 40 tutors whose individual reservation wages fall within the range of €550 to €650. However, this wage is insufficient to guarantee effort. The school requires tutors to work hard, for instance by carefully preparing lessons, but faces the challenge that it is impossible to perfectly monitor the quality of their teaching. This creates a motivation problem where many tutors may choose not to exert full effort.
