Concept

Horizontal Line

A horizontal line is the graph of a linear equation that contains only the variable yy, written in the form y=by = b. In this equation, the yy-value is the constant bb and is completely independent of xx. Because the yy-coordinate remains exactly the same regardless of the chosen xx-coordinate, plotting its points produces a straight line that runs perfectly flat from side to side, crossing the yy-axis exactly at the point (0,b)(0, b). To construct a table of values for a horizontal line, the constant bb is substituted for every yy-coordinate, while any arbitrary numbers can be chosen for the xx-coordinates.
