How to Solve a Quadratic Equation Using the Zero Product Property

To solve a quadratic equation using the Zero Product Property, follow a three-step procedure:

Step 1. Set each factor equal to zero. The Zero Product Property states that if a product is zero, at least one factor must be zero.

Step 2. Solve the linear equations. Solve each of the resulting simpler equations to find the values of the variable.

Step 3. Check. Substitute each solution separately back into the original equation to verify that both sides produce a true statement.
