Ibn Sina

In the 11{}11th century, the Persian physician Ibn Sina, sometimes referred to as Avicenna, proposed that tuberculosis was likely spread by people's breath when they were in close proximity to one another. His observations contributed early evidence to the understanding that unseen substances could cause diseases.
