Identifying Components of Marginal Private Cost

A furniture workshop produces custom wooden chairs. To produce one more chair, the workshop owner considers the following expenses:

  1. The cost of the wood and screws needed for that specific chair.
  2. The electricity cost for running the saws and sanders for the time it takes to make that chair.
  3. The monthly rent for the workshop space.
  4. The disposal fee the town charges the workshop for the sawdust created, which is based on the total weight of waste produced.
  5. The annual salary of the master woodworker who is paid regardless of the number of chairs made per month.

Analyze these five expenses. Which of them should be included when calculating the marginal private cost of producing one additional chair? Justify your answer by explaining why the included items fit the definition and why the excluded items do not.
