Identifying the Pitfalls for Social Interaction in Computer-Supportive Collaborative Learning Environments: Social Interaction in Computer-Supported Collaborative Environments
Evidently social interaction is a prerequisite for collaboration and collaborative learning yet educators do not address this need in CSCL environments. This article argues that there are two factors that can be identified which are seen as pitfalls to social interaction, especially in CSCL environments:
- Pitfall 1: taking social interaction for granted
- Pitfall 2: Restricting social interaction to cognitive processes
