Interpreting Economic Data Across Different Conditions

A study of unemployed workers in Pennsylvania in 1982, during a major recession, found that the financial and non-financial cost of losing a job was very high. A separate study conducted in Connecticut between 1993 and 2004, a period of general economic prosperity, found a similarly high cost associated with job loss. Analyze the combined implications of these two findings. What does this comparison reveal about the value an employee places on their job, regardless of the overall economic climate?
