Labor Market Shifts and Workers' Bargaining Power

Workers’ bargaining power was enhanced through two key shifts in the labor market. Firstly, as factory production expanded, the demand for labor increased. Secondly, the supply of labor was simultaneously reduced due to new regulations that restricted the employment of women and children and limited working hours. This combination of rising demand and falling supply strengthened the negotiating position of workers.
