Managing Utility Scheduling for a Service Change

A service change requires the utility company to open the service and later restore it, and the appointment is usually not immediate; a typical scheduling window is one to three business days. The scope document should identify who is responsible for arranging the utility work, state the expected lead time, and estimate how long the customer will be without power. In most areas, the electrical permit must be issued before any service-change work starts. When utility scheduling is not planned in advance, delays and customer complaints are common.
