Methods to Graph Lines

There are four primary methods used to graph linear equations, each suited to different forms of equations. First, the Point Plotting method involves finding three arbitrary coordinate points, plotting them, verifying they align, and then drawing the line. Second, the Slope-Intercept method uses equations in the form y=mx+by = mx + b by first plotting the y-intercept and then using the rise and run of the slope to find a second point. Third, the Intercepts method creates a graph by calculating and plotting the x-intercept (where y=0y = 0) and the y-intercept (where x=0x = 0). Finally, recognizing one-variable equations allows for quickly graphing vertical lines (equations in the form x=ax = a) or horizontal lines (equations in the form y=by = b).
