Monomial

A monomial is an algebraic term of the form axmax^m, where aa is a constant and mm is a whole number. It can be a standalone number, a single variable, or a product of a number and one or more variables raised to whole-number exponents. Examples of monomials include 88, 2x2-2x^2, 4y34y^3, 11z711z^7, and 9x3y5-9x^3y^5. Monomials serve as the fundamental building blocks from which polynomials are constructed — every polynomial is made up of one or more monomials joined by addition or subtraction.
