Plant et al. (2005) Study on Study Time and GPA

A 2005 study at Florida State University by E. A. Plant, K. A. Ericsson, L. Hill, and K. Asberg investigated the factors impacting the academic performance of 84 students. The research, titled 'Why study time does not predict grade point average across college students: Implications of deliberate practice for academic performance,' was published in Contemporary Educational Psychology. It explored the relationship between student GPA and their study habits, specifically focusing on the duration and environment of their study sessions. The findings were analyzed by categorizing students based on their study time alone, and then by both study time and environment, to assess the effects on GPA.
