Sanai's Refutation of Planetary Domiciles Based on Celestial Proportions in Hadiqat al-Haqiqah
In Section 55 of Hadiqat al-Haqiqah, Sanai continues his critique of astrologers by logically refuting the concept of planetary domiciles (the zodiac signs assigned as 'houses' to specific planets). He uses the vast differences in physical size between celestial bodies to highlight the absurdity of these astrological associations. For example, he questions how the Sun, which he states is 124 times the size of the Earth, can be confined to the 'house' of Leo, or how Venus, being a quarter the size of the Earth, can rule over Taurus and Libra. By pointing out the physical disproportions and logical inconsistencies in these pairings, Sanai emphasizes the ignorance of astrologers who rely on such baseless systems.
