Schizophrenia Patients' Family Members and Care Giver's Mental Health: Affective Responsiveness
The study found that better affective responsiveness in family caregivers was associated with improved mental health. Cultural differences may influence emotional expression, but caregivers with better affective responsiveness can express negative emotions effectively, leading to improved well-being. They also receive more emotional support from family members, further enhancing their mental health. To support caregivers, clinical staff should promote adaptive affective responsiveness through interventions like psychoeducation and emotional regulation training.
