Vocational training programs for people with disabilities were limited to occupations commonly seen as suitable for them, such as massage for blind people, tailoring for deaf people, and computer graphics for people with mobility impairments. Many vocational lacked accreditation and necessary skills to teach people with disabilities, restricting their access to other occupations and reducing their ability to choose a profession freely.

Vocational Schools

In education, schools do not take bullying of students with disabilities seriously, and teachers lacking appropriate teaching methods have created barriers to education for people with disabilities. This means that students with disabilities cannot access education in the same way as students without disabilities, leading to a lack of equal rights in education. This has led to stigmatization and deprivation of opportunities for students with disabilities.

Stigma in Education

The research found that people with disabilities often have lower income and struggle to find stable employment. They are hesitant to change jobs because they believe they have limited opportunities for better employment. Additionally, vocational guidance and training for young people with disabilities are not effectively preparing them to enter the job market. As a result, people with disabilities face unfair working conditions such as lack of labor contracts, lower wages, and longer working hours. The research also revealed that stigma is still common among people with disabilities, and it is related to gender, age, type of disability, and having multiple disabilities.

Poor Employment Opportunities

The research findings show that participants have a lower level of mental wellbeing, which can be attributed to concerns about job insecurity, low incomes, and job dissatisfaction. Improving the employment situation for people with disabilities can reduce the stigma against them and improve their mental well-being. Respondents who reported lower mental wellbeing tended to be those who perceived stigma and were males. This suggests that mental wellbeing programs for people with disabilities should focus on these groups.
