Student Progress in Concept Maps ( Concerning the Relationship between teachers’ theoretical orientations towards reading and their concept maps)

  • Naveh-Benjamin, McKeachie, Lin, and Tucker (1986) found that as the school course progressed, students’ concept maps became more organized, had a greater average depth, and became more similar to a map generated by the teacher of the course. These trends were especially strong for those students who performed well in the course.
  • Beyerbach (1988) found that within each course, students’ maps became more similar to their instructor’s, and more differentiated.
