Survey Outcomes (Autism College Experience in Comparison to Neurotypical Peers)
The survey included three outcomes, drawn from college life studies including the National Survey of Student Engagement and the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health:
- academic
- measures of success using self-reported GPA and any remedial courses
- 7 questions concerning academic challenges on a 1 to 4 scale (from "not at all" to "very" difficult)
- academic engagement based on a sum of level of participation in class, student-faculty-interaction, and internship experience.
- social: feelings of belonging on campus and quality/quantity of social
relationships based on a scale of 1: "strongly disagree" to 4: "strongly agree"
- measures of bullying were found using three questions involving verbal abuse, physical abuse, and rumors
- feelings of difference measured by one yes or no question
- health: mental and physical health self-rated using 5-point scales from "poor" to "excellent"
