The Symbolism of Predatory Beasts in Sufi Dream Interpretation

In Sufi dream interpretation, particularly in Sanai's Hadiqat al-Haqiqah, predatory beasts (siba') are generally interpreted as representations of various adversaries or moral shortcomings. For example, the lion represents a dominant and proud enemy, the leopard represents a deceitful opponent, the bear represents a treacherous and thieving enemy, and the wolf and fox represent malevolent, ill-wishing adversaries. These symbols serve to translate dream imagery into spiritual and psychological insights.
