The Two Methods in the Microsoft Desirability Toolkit

  • The Faces Questionnaire: Show participants 6 photos of various ambiguous facial expressions and have them rate how much they experienced the emotion expressed in the image while using the product
  • Product-Reaction Cards: Participants select all reaction words that best describe their experience using the product from a 120 word, balanced list, then are challenged to narrow their choices to the top 5 most relevant words
