Unavoidable Ethical Conflict

Ethical conflict in psychological research is largely unavoidable because very few studies are completely risk-free. Researchers constantly face difficult tradeoffs where a study might benefit one group, such as the scientific community, while posing risks to another, like the research participants. Additionally, adhering strictly to moral principles like absolute truthfulness can sometimes make it impossible to conduct scientifically valid research on critical topics. Because these conflicts cannot always be eliminated, researchers must manage them constructively by thoroughly evaluating ethical issues, actively minimizing risks, and taking responsibility for their methodological decisions.
