Why Profit Does Not Guarantee Available Cash

Profit is the amount left after a job’s costs are compared with its revenue at the end of the project. Cash flow is the amount of spendable money available right now to pay workers, vendors, and other bills. These are related but not the same. A project may finish with a healthy profit and still leave the contractor unable to pay near-term obligations if customer payments arrive after expenses are already due.
