Zero as Neither Positive nor Negative

Zero occupies a unique position in the number system: it is neither positive nor negative. Positive numbers are defined as those greater than zero, while negative numbers are those less than zero. Because zero is the boundary between these two categories, it does not belong to either one. On a number line, zero serves as the dividing point between the positive numbers on its right and the negative numbers on its left.
