Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Major Depressive Disorder

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is a common treatment for major depressive disorder. The group intervention significantly increases optimism and self-esteem. However, the treatment is only effective when individuals complete their session plans. Levels of optimism and self-esteem can be low in the long term if individuals are inconsistent with their sessions or end them before the treatment is completed.
