Conducting a Complete Inventory Count

A complete inventory count is a full item-by-item check of stock in every storage location a contractor controls, such as the warehouse, shop, and service vehicles. It is used to establish a reliable snapshot of what is actually on hand at a specific time or recurring interval. Because the process requires people to stop and count, compare, and correct records, it can interrupt normal work. Contractors usually reserve it for scheduled reconciliation, year-end closing, or situations where the records no longer seem dependable.
