Dissociation of Sexual Motivation and Ability

The physical capacity to engage in sexual acts and the psychological drive to do so are distinct processes that can operate independently in both animals and humans. In humans, this separation is evident when individuals maintain sexual motivation but lack physical capability, a dynamic clearly illustrated by the widespread use of medications to treat erectile dysfunction.
