Finding the Intercepts of 2x+y=82x + y = 8

To determine the intercepts of the equation 2x+y=82x + y = 8, apply the substitution method for each axis crossing. Finding the x-intercept: Set y=0y = 0 and solve for xx: 2x+0=82x + 0 = 8 2x=82x = 8 x=4x = 4 The x-intercept is the point (4,0)(4, 0). Finding the y-intercept: Set x=0x = 0 and solve for yy: 2(0)+y=82(0) + y = 8 0+y=80 + y = 8 y=8y = 8 The y-intercept is the point (0,8)(0, 8). The two intercepts of the line are the points (4,0)(4, 0) and (0,8)(0, 8). A table can be used to organize these calculations by listing the assigned zeros and the resulting intercept values.
